Seoul (VNA) – More than 134,000 Vietnamese nationals are living in the Republic of Korea, forming the third largest foreign community in the country after those from China and the United States.
According to a report released by the RoK’s Ministry of Justice on March 9, about 1.88 million foreigners are residing in the East Asian nation as of the end of January this year, up 5.9 percent from the same period last year.
Of the figure, Chinese accounted for 52.2 percent, or more than 981,000 people, followed by Americans (7.2 percent), Vietnamese, Thais and Filipinos.
The number of overseas students totalled over 95,000, representing 12.1 percent of the foreign population.
By the end of January, more than 151,000 foreigners got married to Korean nationals, a year-on-year increase of 0.5 percent, the report said.-VNA
