Lieutenant General Tran Quang Khue on March 23 inspected the Vietnamese navy’s readiness for participation in the Komodo multilateral naval exercise in Indonesia.

In the central coastal province of Khanh Hoa, Khue, who is also a Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army, checked hospital ship HQ-561, which will be sent to the drill, and heard reports on exercise contents that Vietnam will engage in.

The country will also take part in fringe activities such as sports games and cultural exchanges.

Speaking highly of the preparations by the navy, the officer asked all forces to do their utmost at the exercise to realise set targets.

The Komodo exercise will be held from March 29 to April 3 under the theme “ASEAN Cooperation Navy for Stability”. It will focus on naval humanitarian aid and disaster relief activities by ASEAN and ASEAN Plus countries.-VNA
