Vietnamese peacekeepers report on COVID-19 prevention

Hanoi (VNA) -
Vietnamese forces engaging in UN peacekeeping missionsin the Central African Republic and South Sudan reported on the COVID-19situation in their areas via a video conference in Hanoi on June 15.

South Sudan, experts have said, is one of five African countries withthe most rapid rate of COVID-19 infections and is among those most at risk of anoutbreak.

As of June 10, the country had 1,604 cases, including 19 deaths and sixrecoveries.

As of the same day, Vietnam’s Level-2 Field Hospital No.2 in SouthSudan’s Bentiu city had treated 927 patients.

Meanwhile, the Central African Republic has announced 1,888 infectionswith six fatalities and 40 recoveries.

Six Vietnamese officers are at the United Nations MultidimensionalIntegrated Stabilisation Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA).

Senior Lieutenant GeneralNguyen Chi Vinh, Deputy Minister of National Defence, highly appreciated theefforts of Vietnamese peacekeeping forces to overcome the difficulties, andasked them to protect themselves amid the pandemic./.

Coast Guard Region 2 promotes IUU-free fishing among Quang Ngai fishermen

The Command of Coast Guard Region 2 briefed the fishermen on the Law of the Sea of Vietnam, the Fisheries Law, and legal documents related to IUU prevention. Officers also provided guidance on identifying areas under Vietnam’s sovereignty and jurisdiction, traditional fishing grounds, warning zones, and prohibited fishing areas.
