New Delhi (VNA) – Vietnamese students delivered exceptional performance and secured top honours at the 2024 UCMAS International Competition that took place in India from December 14-15.

The mental arithmetic intelligence contest drew 6,000 participants aged between 4 and 14 from 30 countries across the globe, with all of the 12 Vietnam students winning awards. Particularly, Le Nguyen Thuy Duong and Nguyen Chan Hung from Hanoi, and Chuong Gia Khanh from Ho Chi Minh City claimed the championship titles.

The competition's demanding format required contestants to solve 200 arithmetic problems in just eight minutes, a process designed by UCMAS to test not only mathematical skills but also visual memory, concentration, and overall academic performance.

Speaking at the event, UCMAS CEO Alexan Wong said the competition has grown to be the largest and most impacful of its kind. It is inspiring to see students from around the world showcasing their creativity, visual memory and focus, the skills that are critical for their future success.

Since UCMAS Vietnam, part of an international network spanning over 80 countries, was set up in 2008, the country has consistently achieved high rankings in international competitions./.
