General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Nguyen Phu Trong has expressed his hope that Thailand’s ruling Pheu Thai Party (PTP) will continue to contribute to strengthening the two countries’ strategic partnership.
Receiving PTP Senior Adviser Somchai Wongsawat in Hanoi on October 1, the Vietnamese Party leader noted that the two sides need to further enhance delegation exchanges and experience sharing in the implementation of economic development measures and national construction and development.
He said the PTP delegation’s visit to Vietnam, from September 30 to October 4, at the invitation of the CPV Central Committee marks an important step in the two Parties’ relations.
Speaking highly of the outcomes of the talks between the CPV and PTP delegations, General Secretary Trong thanked the Thai Government, ruled by the PTP, for its cooperation with Vietnam in national construction and development, at regional and international forums as well as its support to the Vietnamese community in Thailand.
For his part, Somchai Wongsawat, who is former Thai Prime Minister, asserted the PTP will pay more attention, consolidate and further develop the solidarity and traditional friendship between the two peoples towards up the fine relations between the two Parties.
He also affirmed Thai people’s respect for late President Ho Chi Minh and expressed his pleasure at the great achievements Vietnam has made in the renewal process.
The Thai official said he believes that under the CPV’s leadership, the Vietnamese people will successfully realise industrialisation and modernisation and improve the country’s position in the region and international arena.
Earlier, Hoang Binh Quan, Head of CPVCC’s Commission for External Relations, held talks with Somchai Wongsawat.
The two sides informed each other of the situation of their respective Party and discussed ways to strengthen relations between the two Parties, contributing to promptly implementing the Vietnam-Thailand strategic partnership in the coming time.-VNA
