Vietnamese universities win place in Asia University Rankings 2020

Three Vietnamese universities have been named in the Asia University Rankings 2020, as announced by the UK’s Times Higher Education (THE).

Hanoi (VNA) - Three Vietnamese universitieshave been named in the Asia University Rankings 2020, as announced by theUK’s Times Higher Education (THE).

Released on June 3, the latest rankings show thatthe Vietnam National University - Hanoi (HNU) is placed in the group ranked 201to 250 while the Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST) is in the 251to 300 group and the Vietnam National University - HCM City (VNUHCM) is in the401 group.

This eighth edition of THE Asia University Rankings 2020 lists nearly500 institutions from 30 Asian countries and territories.

Universities are ranked by performance in five areas: teaching (learningenvironment); research (volume, income, and reputation); citations (researchinfluence); international outlook (staff, students, and research); and industryincome (knowledge transfer).

Among the Vietnamese representatives, HNUachieved the highest score in the areas of teaching, research, and internationaloutlook, while HUST and VNUHCM saw their highestscore in citations and industry incomes,respectively./.

Phu Quoc launches English classes for vendors, drivers ahead of APEC 2027

Under the project “Enhancing foreign language capacity for the community in the 2026–30 period, with a vision to 2045”, recently announced by the Phu Quoc Special Zone authorities, English programmes will be piloted at 10-15 schools across all three education levels from September 2026 to June 2027.

An Giang takes zero-tolerance approach to IUU fishing

Singer, media executive charged over YouTube music copyright infringement

The Investigation Police Agency under the municipal Public Security Department said on August 5 that it had prosecuted and placed in temporary detention Nguyen Thi Hien, owner of the YouTube channel Phuong Diem Huyen, and Nguyen Thanh Hiep, Director of Unicorn Vietnam Media and Entertainment Co., Ltd., for investigation on the charge of infringing copyright and related rights under Article 225 of Vietnam's Penal Code.

Vietnamese students shine at AIMO 2026 international finals

The Vietnamese team won one Champion title, four First Runner-up awards, three Second Runner-up awards, 42 gold medals, 83 silver medals, 70 bronze medals and two consolation prizes at the 2026 International Finals of the Asia International Mathematical Olympiad Open Contest (AIMO) held in Hanoi on August 2-5.
