Vietnamese university listed in top 10 ASEAN research universities

Ton Duc Thang University has become the only representative from Vietnam to be named among the top 10 excellent research universities in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), according to US Web of Science data.

Ton Duc ThangUniversity has become the only representative from Vietnam to be named amongthe top 10 excellent research universities in the Association of SoutheastAsian Nations (ASEAN), according to US Web of Science data.

In 2019, ASEAN member countries published 63,445research works on the International Scientific Index (ISI) magazines. Among the10 leading universities, Vietnam’s Ton Duc Thang University ranked seventh.

Topping the list are two from Singapore,followed by four from Malaysia. Two universities from Thailand are placed in 8th and 9th, while another from Malaysia makes up the top 10.

Established as a private school in 1997 bythe Ho Chi Minh City Federation of Labour, Ton Duc Thang Universitybecame a public school in 2008 after being taken over by the Vietnam GeneralConfederation of Labour. 

The university was the only Vietnameseuniversity in the Times Higher Education University Impact Rankings2019 issued in April for achievements regarding the UN SustainableDevelopment Goals.

In 2018, the university was named by the UIGreenMetric World University Ranking among the 300 most sustainableuniversities in the world. It also achieved a four-star rating from theUK’s QS Stars University Ratings./.

Public order crime drops 22.55% in first half

In the field of economic crime, 2,096 cases involving 4,194 suspects were prosecuted in the first half. For corruption and position-related crimes, 370 cases and 1,042 suspects were brought to trial. Meanwhile, police uncovered 11,687 drug-related cases involving 22,863 individuals.

Thai Princess Award Foundation strengthens education ties with Vietnam

The programme prioritises 286 remote border communes, wards and special areas, where coordination between local youth units is seen as crucial. Volunteers are deployed across three main functions: supporting officials with administrative procedures, helping people and businesses submit online applications and payments, and offering digital training through creative models such as mobile tech clinics and grassroots tech groups.
