Vietnam's 35-strong squad announced for ASEAN U23 Championship 2025

The Vietnamese team will gather on June 26 in Ba Ria-Vung Tau, where they will train until July 14 before departing for Indonesia for the ASEAN U23 Championship 2025, which runs from July 15 to 29. Vietnam will face Laos on July 19 and Cambodia on July 22 in the group stage.

Hanoi (VNA) — Vietnam's head coach Kim Sang Sik announced on June 20 a 35-player national men's squad for the ASEAN U23 Championship 2025 (ASEAN U-23 Mandiri Cup 2025)

The squad includes eight players who were part of Vietnam’s victorious 2023 ASEAN U23 Championship team, namely goalkeeper Tran Trung Kien; defender Nguyen Hong Phuc; midfielders Nguyen Van Truong, Khuat Van Khang and Dinh Xuan Tien; and strikers Nguyen Dang Duong, Le Dinh Long Vu and Nguyen Quoc Viet.

Two promising overseas Vietnamese players have also been called up: midfielder Le Viktor of Hong Linh Ha Tinh, and striker Bui Alex, who currently plays for Team B of Bohemians Praha 1905 in the Czech Republic’s third division. Le Viktor has been in good form in the V.League and has taken part in recent training camps, while Bui Alex made his debut with the U22 team during a training camp in late May and early June.

The team will gather on June 26 in Ba Ria-Vung Tau, where they will train until July 14 before departing for Indonesia for the tournament, which runs from July 15 to 29. Vietnam will face Laos on July 19 and Cambodia on July 22 in the group stage.

Vietnam’s U23 players are two-time champions of the ASEAN U23 Championship, having lifted the trophy in 2022 and 2023./.
