Hanoi (VNA) – Nguyen Anh Tuan, Member of the Party Central Committee and Chairman of the Young National Assembly Deputies Group, has highlighted the success of the 9th Global Conference for Young Parliamentarians (GCYP), and the outstanding outcomes of the event.
The conference, which took place in Hanoi from September 14-16, has left an unforgettable impression on delegates because this is the event with the largest-ever number of delegates, and also the first time delegates have issued a conference statement.
The conference’s agenda was carefully discussed between the host country and the Secretariat of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) and the President of the IPU Forum of Young Parliamentarians, Tuan, who is also Secretary of the Party Committee of Bac Ninh province, said in an exclusive interview granted to VietnamPlus e-newspaper after the conference.
The agenda, reached by parties in their working sessions, included diverse content and activities, both official and sidelines ones, he added.
The conference featured three thematic sessions on digital transformation, innovation and startup, and promoting respect for cultural diversity for sustainable development. The topics were closely aligned with the conference’s theme and gathered a significant number of opinions from the delegates.
All sessions extended beyond the scheduled time to ensure that all registered delegations had the opportunity to share their views, Tuan said.
With over 500 delegates, the event recorded the largest-ever number of participants. For Vietnam, in addition to the participation of young NA deputies of the 15th National Assembly, there were also representatives from the People's Councils of some provinces and centrally-run cities and outstanding young individuals.
After nine editions, the GYPC, for the first time, issued a conference statement with a high consensus among delegates, Tuan said.

According to Tuan, in addition to speeches delivered directly in the thematic sessions, many parliamentarians sent pre-recorded video speeches. This demonstrated the active and enthusiastic participation of the delegates in the event.
Communication efforts were also strengthened before, during, and after the event, Tuan said, adding that the organising board established a press centre and ensured favourable working conditions for domestic and international media agencies to cover the conference effectively.
He appreciated press agencies’ contributions to the success of the conference, saying that the large number of news and articles, as well as communication efforts have contributed to promoting the image of Vietnam, its culture and people to the international community.

Tuan also highlighted the significance of the 9th GCYP in strengthening Vietnam's position in the international arena, saying that it offered a great opportunity for Vietnamese young parliamentarians to learn experience, share common concerns, and expand cooperation with those from the IPU’s member parliaments.
The Vietnamese NA has 124 young deputies, accounting for nearly 25% of the total members, Tuan said, noting that their presence at the event has significantly contributed to the NA’s reform process and to bilateral and multilateral exchange and cooperation initiatives.
The 9th GCYP has played a part in reaffirming the common stance of the Party and State of Vietnam in actively and responsibly engaging in international issues and expanding cooperation between the Vietnamese NA and parliaments of other countries around the world, he went on.
Tuan also underlined the important role played by young NA deputies in the digital transformation process, especially their responsibility in developing and drafting relevant laws that the legislature has already passed and those that will be debated in the coming time.

The Young National Assembly Deputies Group has strengthened international cooperation channels to learn experience of other countries in forming institutions related to digital transformation, he added.
The group will collaborate with the Ministry of Information and Communications and the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (HCMCYU) Central Committee in strengthening the digital capacity among young people, and consider this a decisive factor in developing digital citizens, thus promoting the country’s digital transformation process in an effective and sustainable manner, Tuan stated./.
