Hanoi (VNA) –
The Vietnamese Embassy in Germany held a ceremony in Berlin on August 31 to celebrate the 72nd anniversary of Vietnam’s August Revolution Day (August 19) and National Day (September 2).

Ambassador Doan Xuan Hung affirmed that the Vietnamese Party and State always attach great importance to developing the strategic partnership with Germany.

A similar event was held in Canada’s capital of Ottawa with the participation of over 200 people.

Vietnamese Ambassador to Canada Nguyen Duc Hoa said the relations between the two countries have been thriving since they established diplomatic ties in 1973.

Currently, Vietnam is the biggest trade partner of Canada in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) with two-way trade reaching nearly 5 billion USD, he noted.

Nearly 7,000 Vietnamese students are pursuing education in Canada, which is expected to increase in the coming time, he said.

On September 2, 1945, President Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence, declaring to the world the foundation of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

Over the past 72 years, the country has gained significant achievements in various fields such as economics, trade, defense-security, external affairs, and international integration.-VNA
