Vietnam’s reform experience shared at high-level dialogue in Tanzania

Hanoi (VNA) – Economist Le Dang Doanh, former headof Vietnam’s Central Institute for Economic Management, presented the SoutheastAsian country’s reform policies and achievements over the past three decades ata recent high-level dialogue that focused on development measures for Tanzania.

Co-organised by the Research on Poverty Alleviation (REPOA)and the Dutch Embassy in Tanzania, the dialogue took place in Dar es Salaam onOctober 21, gathering local public officials, foreign experts, andrepresentatives of diplomatic corps and international organisations.

In his presentation at the event, Doanh introduced Vietnam’spoverty alleviation efforts and policies to attract investment, improve thebusiness climate and increase national competitiveness.

He also made recommendations on development policies forTanzania and fielded questions from other participants.

Speakers suggested that nations with limited resourcesshould prioritise strategic areas that offer key socio-economic services forcompressive and balanced growth, rather than just focusing on boosting GDP andper capita income./.
