HCM City (VNA) – Ho Chi Minh City is set to light up the sky with fireworks to ring in New Year 2026 at six locations, up two places from the initial plan.

Fireworks displays will last from 00:00 to 00:15am on January 1, 2026, with funding from private sources.

Three sites for high-altitude fireworks consist of the Saigon River Tunnel entrance in An Khanh ward, the New City’s centre in Binh Duong ward, and Tam Thang Square in Vung Tau ward.

Low-altitude shows will be held at the Dam Sen Cultural Park in Binh Thoi ward, Saigon Marina IFC Tower in Saigon ward, and the Kim Long villa area – Rach Dia Bridge in Nha Be commune, according to the new plan issued by the municipal People’s Committee

The administration assigned the city’s Military Command to build an implementation plan and work closely with relevant departments and agencies to ensure proper preparations for and organisation of the displays.

Under the Government Office's Document No. 12729/VPCP-KGVX, dated December 25, civil servants and public employees nationwide will have a four-day break from Thursday (January 1) to Sunday (January 4, 2026). To offset this, the working day on Friday (January 2, 2026) will be shifted to Saturday of the following week (January 10, 2026).

For the non-state sector, employers are encouraged to adopt the same holiday schedule, while fully ensuring employees’ statutory rights and benefits in line with legal regulations. More favourable arrangements for workers are also encouraged where possible./.
