Vietnam-Tanzania relations further consolidated: diplomat

Pretoria (VNA) – VietnameseAmbassador to Tanzania Nguyen Kim Doanh stressed the continued solidificationof the two countries’ relations in 2019 while addressing a banquet markingVietnam’s 74th National Day (September 2) in Dar es Salaam city on September12.

Noting some highlights in bilateral connectionsthis year, Doanh said Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung paid anofficial visit to Tanzania in July, and T&T Group of Vietnam purchased176,000 tonnes of cashew nuts of the 2017-2018 crop from the African nation

Vietnamese agricultural machinery has beendistributed in Tanzania since the beginning of 2019. The Halotel joint ventureof Vietnam’s telecom group Viettel has also managed to find solutions todifficulties in its business activities here following the agreements reachedbetween the two countries’ leaders.

Briefing participants, including Tanzanianofficials, foreign diplomats, and representatives of internationalorganisations and businesses, about Vietnam’s achievements in multiple spheres,the diplomat attributed those successes to the Vietnamese Party and State’sclear-sighted policies, the people’s solidarity and efforts, along with the preciouscooperation and support from countries and peace lovers around the world.

He also thanked international friends for votingfor the Southeast Asian nation to become a non-permanent member of the UnitedNations Security Council for 2020-2021, affirming that it will exert efforts tofulfill its duties to help build up peace, stability and prosperity around theglobe.

Doanh said besides T&T Group and Halotel,other large enterprises of Vietnam are also seeking business chances inTanzania and other African countries. He expressed his hope that the TanzanianGovernment and foreign diplomatic agencies here will popularise this intentionof Vietnamese firms to their countries’ companies so as to help promoteinvestment and business partnerships.

At the celebration, Deputy Permanent Secretaryof the Tanzanian Foreign Ministry Ramadhan Muombwa Mwinyi highly valuedVietnam’s development attainments as well as the new strides in bilaterallinks.

He once again thanked the Vietnamese Governmentand embassy for helping his country successfully sell the 176,000 tonnes ofcashew nuts the Tanzanian Government had purchased in support of its farmers.

The official added he hopes that with itsdevelopment experience, Vietnam will continue cooperating with and supporting Tanzaniain economic development in the time to come./.

NA Standing Committee inspects election preparations in Ca Mau

In Ca Mau, 13 candidates have been introduced for the National Assembly, 73 for the provincial People’s Council, and 1,469 for commune-level People’s Councils. The provincial election committee has designated five NA constituencies and 18 constituencies for People’s Councils at provincial and commune levels.
