Vietnam’s relevant ministries and agencies are actively implementing measures to ensure the safety of Vietnamese workers in Libya, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Le Hai Binh has said.
At the ministry’s regular press conference in Hanoi on August 7, Binh said that his ministry, the Ministry of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs (MOLISA) and Vietnamese representative agencies in Libya, Turkey, Egypt and Algeria are working closely with employers to protect Vietnamese workers in Libya.
According to the spokesman, the Foreign Ministry has also sent diplomatic notes to the Philippine and Thai embassies in Vietnam urging the two countries to support the evacuation of Vietnamese citizens from dangerous areas.
Vietnam’s representative agencies in Turkey, Egypt and Algeria are actively coordinating with these countries’ authorised agencies to create favourable conditions for Vietnamese labourers who transit here to return home.
By August 7, 246 Vietnamese citizens had left Libya, he said, adding that in the coming time, more Vietnamese workers will be brought home from the country by air.
The same day, the national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines announced it will collaborate with the Foreign Ministry, the MOLISA, and the Republic of Korea’s Hyundai Engineering Co., Ltd to conduct three flights from Hanoi to Cairo, Egypt on August 9, 10 and 11 to bring home 724 Vietnamese workers from conflict zones in Libya.-VNA
