VN, Cambodia discuss draft extradition treaty

Vietnam’s delegation was headed by Major-General Nguyen NgocAnh, Director of the Ministry of Public Security’s Legal Departmentwhile the Cambodian delegation was led by Hy Sophea, Secretary of State,Ministry of Justice.

The draft treaty has 20 articles regulatingmutual extradition obligations and procedures, which state clearly whenand how they will transfer convicted persons.

Over the recentyears, Vietnam and Cambodia have signed various importantagreements on cooperation in different fields, while promoting theirpartnership within regional and international framework such as ASEANConvention on Counter-terrorism and Vietnam-Laos-Cambodia DevelopmentTriangle.-VNA
