VN, Cambodia prepare for border meeting

A meeting of Vietnamese and Cambodian senior officials to prepare for the 7 th Meeting on Cooperation and Development between border provinces of Cambodia and Vietnam took place in Ho Chi Minh City on March 8.
A meeting of Vietnamese and Cambodian senior officials to prepare forthe 7 th Meeting on Cooperation and Development between borderprovinces of Cambodia and Vietnam took place in Ho Chi Minh Cityon March 8.

The meeting was co-chaired by DeputyForeign Minister Pham Quang Vinh and Secretary of State of CambodianMinistry of Interior Prum Sokha.

At the meeting, the twosides reviewed preparatory works for the plenary session of the 7 thMeeting, which will take place on March 9. The officials also discussedand agreed on a cooperative orientation between the two sides, contentsof documents and joint statement of the 7 th Meeting.

Officials reviewed cooperative results between ministries, branches andlocalities in border provinces of the two countries from August, 2010until now and discussed measures to solve difficulties in implementingthe cooperation.

The meeting adopted an orientation topromote cooperation in many fields, to match the future needs of the twocountries’ border localities.-VNA

According to historical records, the area once served as an operational base for units of Regiments 609, 66, 24 and 320, as well as staff and logistics agencies of the Central Highlands front (B3) during the 1966–1969 period. Between 2020 and 2025, the corps had already recovered remains from 46 martyrs in the Chu Pa mountain area.

Tu expressed his appreciation for the practical and effective contributions made by generations of Cambodian students who studied in Vietnam.
