President of the Vietnam –Indonesia Friendship Association of Ho Chi Minh City, Luong Van Ly andIndonesian Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City, Bambang Tarsanto sharedthis view at a get-together on September 6 to mark the 66 th NationalDay of Indonesia.

Ly stressed that Vietnam –Indonesia relations have been ceaselessly strengthened and developedover the past 55 years, adding that the bilateral cooperation have beenfurther tightened with the participation of each country in activitiesof ASEAN, and at regional and international forums, especially sinceVietnam took the role of ASEAN chair last year, and now Indonesia isholding this position.

In the first six months ofthis year, two-way trade between Vietnam and Indonesia rose to 1.94billion USD, up 37.8 percent from 1.18 billion USD last year. ByNovember last year, Indonesia had invested in 25 projects worth 203million USD in Vietnam.

On the occasion, the VietnamUnion of Friendship Organisations and the Ho Chi Minh City YouthCulture House hosted an Indonesian culture programme to introduce thecountry, people and rich culture of Indonesia.

TheIndonesian Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City and the Ho Chi MinhUniversity of Social Sciences and Humanities also organised a culturalexchange entitled “Indonesian Colour” for the two countries’ youngpeople and students living, studying and working in the city./.
