The visit minister made the proposal at a meeting with the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Hoang Tuan Anh in Hanoi on April 15.

Minister Myint said that his country also has caves like the ones in Ha Long Bay where many of the country’s important relics were unearthed.

Myanmar hopes to assist Vietnam in archaeology and explore its national historical culture, said the minister, adding that he hoped Vietnam will set up a team of archaeologists to work with Myanmar’s experts.

Minister Anh highlighted Myanmar’s recent socio-cultural achievements, especially in development and preserving its cultural heritage, development.

Vietnam and Myanmar enjoy a number of transport advantages and share many similarities in culture and history plus both peoples have traded together for centuries, said the Vietnamese minister, expressing his hope that the two countries will cooperate with each other in aviation, banking, post and telecommunications, but particularly culture.

Cultural cooperation will be developed in the form of cultural exchanges to promote mutual understanding between both peoples, link up museums and cooperate in the performing arts and training through building up student exchange programmes, he said.

Vietnam will send a delegation of photographers and personnel from the Ministry’s Performing Art Department to Myanmar for a cultural exchange and an art troupe will perform around the country, he added.

While in Vietnam from April 9-15, the Myanmar minister visited the Cu Chi Tunnels and the Independence Palace in HCM City and paid a floral tribute to late President Ho Chi Minh at his mausoleum in Hanoi./.
