Vietnam wishes to boost comprehensive and extensive cooperation with Thailand in all sectors, thus contributing to the prosperous development of the two countries and the ASEAN bloc.

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung made the statement while receiving Thai Parliament President and Speaker of the House of Representatives Chai Chidchob in Hanoi on July 21.

The PM warmly welcomed the visit by the head of the Thai parliament, which, he said, was a demonstration of the promotion of bilateral friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

Vietnam wishes to dedicate all efforts, together with Thailand , to deepen relations between the two nations, thus bringing practical benefits to both countries, PM Dung stressed.

In particular, Vietnam and Thailand should work more closely in rice production and processing and cooperate with other Mekong region countries in protecting water resources in order to ensure the benefit of the Mekong River ’s upstream and downstream residents, he said.

He also expressed his belief that Thailand will fulfil its task as ASEAN president as well as successfully organise the 30 th ASEAN Inter-parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) and he affirmed that Vietnam will make positive contributions to this success.
President of the Thai Parliament Chai Chidchob stressed that the recent visit to Vietnam by Thai PM Abhisit Vejjajiva marked a new milestone in furthering friendship and multifaceted cooperation between the two countries.

He also expressed his hope that Vietnam and Thailand will work more tightly in agricultural production and in ASEAN operations as a whole to build it into a strong bloc.

Thailand wishes to receive Vietnam ’s support in fulfilling its duties as president of ASEAN and AIPA, he said./.
