VN workers to be safely evacuated from Libya

According to Nguyen Ngoc Quynh, Head of MoLISA Overseas Labour Management Department, businesses that send Vietnamese workers to Libya are closely following the situation and actively discussing with their partners plans to support and ensure the safety and interests of labourers.

Nguyen Xuan Vui, General Director of Air Service and Trading JSC (Airserco), which has nearly 200 workers in Libya ’s eastern city of Banghazi , where large-scale riots have occurred, said his company has worked with its Chinese partner, the China State Construction Engineering Corp on measures to take Vietnamese workers out of Libya in emergency cases.

At present, all Airserco’s workers in Libya are not working and mainly staying in their dormitories.

Nguyen Thi Thanh Hoa, Deputy Director of the HCM City-based Labour Export – Trading and Tourist Company (Savilaco), which has 175 workers in Libya’s Al-Bayda city, said that the company’s two partners, namely Svlidco of Spain and China State have agreed to bring Vietnamese workers home through Greece or the Manta archipelago, 240 km from Libya.

The company’s workers in Libya are all safe, she added.

Libya is now home to nearly 10,000 Vietnamese workers, including 2,000 in Benghazi city and 8,000 in the capital city of Tripoli and surrounding areas. The evacuation of workers is difficult as two airports in Libya have suspended operation./.
