The Vietnam News Agency (VNA) television channel, VNEWS, launched its branch in the central city of Da Nang and the Central Highlands region on June 10.
Addressing the launch function, VNA General Director Tran Mai Huong said the agency considered Da Nang city as a focal point for information provision in the central region, where VNA had set up its representative office and newspaper editorial offices.
The launch of a VNEWS branch in the city was designed to increase the flow of information on Da Nang , since the city was the economic, political and cultural focus of the central region, he said.
Started operating in August last year, VNEWS is the first channel specialising only in news provision in Vietnam , broadcasting 24 hours a day.
After nearly one year of operation, the channel has created a strong following and drawn the attention of State and Party leaders, as well as viewers.
The channel’s coverage has reached 63 cities and provinces nationwide via digital satellite and nearly 40 cities and provinces via cable television network.
