VNA, Kyodo seek stronger cooperation

The VNA chief, who is conducting a working visit to Japan fromMarch 25-29, made the statement during talks with Masaki Fukuyama, whorevealed that the NNA Japan Co. specialises in producing economic newsand intends to report on the Vietnamese economic situation.

Fukuyama said he hopes this cooperation between the NNA and VNAwill be as effective as cooperative ties have traditionally been betweenthe two news agencies.

He affirmed that Japanattaches great importance to relations with Vietnam, and thatexchanging information is becoming increasingly relevant as the numberof Japanese companies investing in Vietnam grows.

During his visit, General Director Nguyen Duc Loi was received by Japanese Minister of Foreign Affairs Fumio Kishida.

The Minister highlighted the remarkable progress in the relationshipbetween Vietnam and Japan since the two countries elevated theirties to strategic partnership for peace and prosperity in Asia followingthe State visit of President Truong Tan Sang to Japan in March 2014at the invitation of Emperor Akihito.

He lauded theexchange between the two countries at the Japan-Vietnam cooperationjoint committee and the third UN World Conference on Disaster RiskReduction held in Japan in March 2015.

GeneralDirector Loi briefed his host on the organisational structure andoperations of his agency and spotlighted the relations between the VNAand Kyodo.

He confirmed that their respective pressagencies will make active contributions to promoting the friendship andcooperation between Vietnam and Japan.

On theoccasion, the VNA chief also visited Fukuoka city where he had aworking session with President of the Nishinippon newspaper TakaoKawasaki.

Kawasaki expressed his interest in opportunities for cooperation with the VNA.

General Director Loi also visited Kumamoto prefecture andparticipated in press activities with Kyodo officials in Kyushuregion.-VNA
