A solemn ceremony was held in central Nghe An province to bury the remains of 72 Vietnamese voluntary soldiers and experts who were killed during the war in Laos.
Provincial leaders and officials from the High Command of Military Zone 4 and Laos’ two provinces, Xieng Khuoang and Vientiane, attended the event.
The remains were found and collected by Nghe An province’s search team in coordination with the two Lao provinces’ Special Working Boards during the 2012-2013 dry season.
Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Le Xuan Dai thanked the Lao officials and people for their help.
Over the last 30 years, people in the two Lao provinces have helped the team repatriate the remains of more than 12,000 Vietnamese voluntary soldiers and experts, he noted.
Earlier, the Lao officials and people, and overseas Vietnamese in Xieng Khuoang province organised a solemn requiem for the fallen soldiers and experts before they were returned to Vietnam.-VNA
