Illustrative image (Photo: hanoimoi.com.vn) Hanoi (VNA) – The Vietnam Social Security (VSS) will exert everyeffort to provide the fastest and most convenient support for pandemic-hitemployees and employers who are beneficiaries from the Government’s new supportpackage sourced from the unemployment insurance fund, VSS Deputy DirectorGeneral Le Hung Son has said.
Son affirmed that this support package shows the Party and State's attention to the lives of workers who are facing difficulties due tothe COVID-19 pandemic and indicates the humanity of unemploymentinsurance policy.
According to Son, workers who benefit from this support packages arethose who are covered by unemployment insurance as of September 30, 2021,excluding employees in State agencies, armed forces, political organisations, socio-politicalorganisations, and non-productive publicagencies which are paid by the State budget.
They also include workers who have stopped payingunemployment insurance premiums due to the termination of their labour contracts orworking contracts between January 1, 2020 and September 30, 2021, and haveunemployment insurance contribution period reserved in accordance with legalregulations on employment, excluding retirees who receive monthly pensions.

Accordingly, nearly 13 million workers out of about 15million people currently participating in unemployment insurance and 386,000employers are entitled to the support policy.
Those employers are entitled to a reduction in unemploymentinsurance contributions from 1 percent to zero percent of the monthly salaryfund for the workers covered by unemployment insurance. The reduction will lastfor 12 months, from October 1, 2021 through September 30, 2022./.
