Hanoi (VNA) – Vice President of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO) Bui Khac Son on May 8 presented the “For peace and friendship among nations” insignia to outgoing Polish Ambassador to Vietnam Barbara Szymanowska in recognition of her contributions to the growth of cooperation and friendship between the two countries’ people.
Son noted that during her term of office in Vietnam, the diplomat has made great efforts in fostering the Vietnam-Poland partnership in many fields from politics-diplomacy to trade, economy, development cooperation, education, and people-to-people exchange.
Szymanowska coordinated with Vietnamese agencies to hold Poland economic forums that drew a large number of leading firms from Poland, while bringing many Polish artists and art troupes to Vietnam, and organising a Polish film festival as well as other cultural, education and tourism events in Vietnam, thus giving Vietnamese people deeper understanding of the culture and people of Poland, said Son.
The VUFO Vice President also highlighted that the Polish diplomat has given many initiatives to support and coordinate the VUFO in launching diplomatic activities, while actively engaging in the organisation’s activities.
He expressed his hope that in any position, Szymanowska will continue making contributions to the development of friendship and affiliation between the two countries.
For her part, Ambassador Szymanowska said that over the past nearly four years, she and staff of the Polish Embassy in Vietnam, the Vietnam-Poland Friendship Organisation as well as people of both countries have implemented many exchange activities and programmes to further bolster the Vietnam-Poland ties.
She thanked the VUFO for assisting her in learning the history, culture and diverse traditions of Vietnam. The diplomat held that the friendship and partnership between the two countries will continue thriving in all fields.
She also affirmed that in any position, she will continue working hard to bring people of both countries closer, thus contributing to facilitating the Vietnam-Poland ties’ growth.-VNA
