Wakayama pledges to facilitate Japanese investment in Vietnam

Japan’s Wakayama prefecture has committed to creating favourable conditions for local enterprises to invest in Vietnam, the Vietnamese Consulate General in Osaka said on November 1.

Tokyo (VNA) – Japan’s Wakayama prefecture has committed to creatingfavourable conditions for local enterprises to invest in Vietnam, theVietnamese Consulate General in Osaka said on November 1.

Wakayama Mayor Nisaka Yoshinobu told Vietnamese Consul General Nguyen Hong Ha during their recent meeting that the prefecture willcreate a favourable legal corridor for Japanese investors, while proposing the Consulate General support his prefecture inpromoting tourism and tangerine exports to Vietnam.

Ha, in turn, told the host that the Vietnamese Government hashad new stances and measures to enhance pandemic prevention and control andeconomic recovery and development, and assist both domestic and foreignenterprises in recovering production and maintaining the supply chain.

He also suggested Wakayama authorities pay attention tosupporting local businesses to invest in Vietnam in the fields of animalhusbandry, farming, seed production and processing of agro-forestry-fishery products,and to cooperation in organising seminars and exchange events to providedetailed information for Japanese businesses and promote linkages between thetwo sides’ businesses.

Also within the framework of his working trip to Wakayama prefecture,Consul General Ha visited Aridagawa town, which has the highest yield andquality of tangerines in Japan. The Aridagawa authorities said the town isfacing many difficulties because of the shortage of labour force, and expressedtheir desire to receive more Vietnamese interns./.

Can Tho, Guangxi seek collaboration in logistics, supply chains

Chinese investors now back 35 projects in Can Tho with registered capital of nearly 1.2 billion USD. In the first seven months of 2026, Can Tho’s exports to China hit 77.5 million USD, while imports stood at 64.7 million USD. Key exports included rice, seafood, farm produce, processed agricultural products and apparel while main imports comprised agricultural chemicals, veterinary medicines, fertilisers, chemicals, fabrics and other materials and inputs.

Vietnam, Russia move to boost financial cooperation

On bilateral economic, trade and investment ties, Tuan said two-way trade hit 3.24 billion USD in the first seven months of 2026, up 12% from a year earlier. Vietnam’s exports to Russia totaled 1.33 billion USD, while imports amounted to 1.91 billion USD.

Ho Chi Minh City seeks to make seaports new growth driver

To maximise its seaport advantages, Ho Chi Minh City is developing smart and green ports while promoting clean energy, lower emissions and sustainable supply chains. Vietnam promotes finance for green agriculture
