War veteran association’s sixth congress concludes

Hanoi (VNA) – The sixth National Congress of the VietnamWar Veterans’ Association (VWVA) wrapped up on December 15 with theintroduction of a 98-member Central Committee for the 2017-2022 period led bySen. Lieut. Gen. Nguyen Van Duoc.

During three working days, veterans passed a report summarizing the association’soperation over the past five years and detailing its targets and tasks for the 2017-2020period, a report on revision of its charter, and a resolution of the congress.

In the next five years, the association is set to fulfil eight majortargets, including the reduction of 1-1.5 percent of poor households of warveterans, repairing all degraded houses of its members, and giving health careconsultations and vocational training to all veterans still at working age.

Addressing the closing ceremony, Sen. Lieut. Gen. Duoc said that thecongress was a success, with the set agenda completed.

He asked the association’s chapters at all levels to promptly popularizeimportant documents agreed during the congress to their members, whiledrastically building action plans to implement the congress’s resolution.

Participants at the congress also heard a greeting letter from the UkraineWar Veterans’ Association.

On the occasion, 42 members of the VWVA Central Committee in the2012-2017 tenure were awarded with the certificates of merit from theassociation’s Chairman in recognition of their outstanding performance inbuilding and developing the association.-VNA

Vietnam Red Cross launches emergency aid for storm-hit provinces

The Vietnam Red Cross Society has decided to allocate over 3.3 billion VND (125,472 USD) in cash and goods to assist Dak Lak, Gia Lai, and Quang Ngai provinces, with the funding from its H2025 relief account at Vietcombank and from the “Clean Water for Communities” project, sponsored by Procter & Gamble (P&G) through Americares.

Vietnamese, Chinese border guards coordinate to promote legal awareness among residents

During the four-day programme, thousands of leaflets were distributed, covering topics such as border management agreements and protocols, the agreement on regulations for management of the Vietnam–China land border, immigration and customs laws, border gate management, and measures to combat smuggling and trade fraud, as well as the importance of safeguarding national sovereignty and border security.

Breeding cows presented to poor households along Vietnam–Cambodia border

Accordingly, leaders of the Border Guard High Command and Tay Ninh province of Vietnam, and Svay Teap district in Svay Rieng province of Cambodia presented 20 breeding cows, valued at 20 million VND (760 USD) each, to 20 households - 10 in Long Thuan commune (Tay Ninh) and 10 in Monorom commune of Svay Teap district.

Tuyen Quang works hard to maximise state revenue in 2025
