About 1,000 street children were given a rare chance to play together at a festival held at Tao Dan park in Ho Chi Minh City on the occasion of the Lunar New Year (Tet).

The event, hosted annually at the end of the lunar year by the City’s Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, attracted the attention and support from the local community and young volunteers.

According to the organising board, the activity aims to bring joy to the underprivileged children. It also acts as a motivation for them to overcome difficulties in life.

This year, the programme received more than 500 million VND (23,800 USD) to buy Tet gifts for disadvantaged children in the city.-VNA
