WB to fund Hanoi environmental project

The World Bank will fund a project to develop an air-monitoring system worth 500,000 USD in Hanoi, according to Madhu Raghunath, leader of the WB’s Program for Sustainable Development.

Hanoi (VNA) – The WorldBank will fund a project to develop an air-monitoring system worth 500,000 USDin Hanoi, according to Madhu Raghunath, leader of the WB’s Program for SustainableDevelopment.

During a meeting with Vice Chairmanof the Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyen The Hung in Hanoi on December 8, Raghunathsaid Hanoi is one of seven cities across the world chosen to pilot the project.

The project aims to evaluate airquality, identify polluted areas and build capacity for technical staffinvolved in the work.

Hung expressed hope that the projectwill help Hanoi plan air-sampling systems in the most effective manner, anddevelop legal framework tackling air pollution in the city.-VNA

Vietnam ramps up plastic waste recycling, reuse, treatment efforts

In 2019, Quang Ninh became one of the first localities in Vietnam to launch a province-wide campaign against plastic waste, mobilising the participation of the political system, the business sector, and the general public. Hundreds of trees planted in Cuc Phuong National Park as part of Forestival

Renowned artists including Ha Anh Tuan, Den Vau, and Phan Manh Quynh, along with many directors and attendees, took part in planting hundreds of rare tree species such as mun (Diospyros mun) and cho chi (Parashorea chinensis) in the Thung Bong area of the Cuc Phuong National Park, contributing to forest ecosystem restoration.
