Bucharest (VNA) –Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc was welcomed to Romania at an official ceremonyin Bucharest on April 15 morning chaired by Romanian Prime Minister VioricaDancila.

This is the first visit of Phucto Romania as Prime Minister of Vietnam, and the first by a Vietnamese PM tothe European country since 1977.

As the two PMs were reviewing aguard of honour at the ceremony, PM Phuc said in Romanian “Buna ziua Soldati”(Good morning soldiers).

Vietnam and Romania officiallyset up diplomatic relations in February 1950. The two countries have enjoyedgrowing friendship and cooperation. Both sides have worked together towards atrade revenue target of 500 million USD in the near future, instead of just 200million USD at present.

The official visit to Romania byPM Phuc looks to open up opportunities for Vietnam to gain Romania’s support inthe ties with the European Union (EU), especially in pushing for the signing ofthe EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) during Romania’ rotating EUPresidency in the first half of 2019.

Besides, the visit also looks tostep up the two sides’ coordination at international forums and build plans toprepare for the 70th anniversary of their diplomatic ties.

The two sides will seek to boostcooperation across politics, economics, trade-investment, education-training,culture-tourism, agriculture, labour, and local partnership during thevisit.-VNA

Vietnam, China sign 32 cooperation documents

The documents include a cooperation plan between the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) and the Communist Party of China (CPC) for the 2026–2030 period; a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on cooperation between the Organisation Commission of the CPV Central Committee and its Chinese counterpart; and a cooperation agreement between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam and the International Liaison Department of the CPC Central Committee.
