Hanoi (VNA) – The Vietnamesewomen’s team beat hosts Uzbekistan 2-1 in their first match in the second qualifyinground of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics in Tashkent on April 3.

The Southeast Asianchampions need to top the group to advance to the next stage.

The Vietnamese women neededonly seven minutes to open the score with a goal by striker Huynh Nhu.

However, a mere four minuteslater Kuchkarova Ugiloy equalized for the hosts.

Shortly after the break, midfielderNguyen Thi Tuyet Dung secured the victory with a successful penalty.

In the other match of GroupB, Hong Kong had a goalless draw with Jordan.

The next round of matches ofApril 6 will see Vietnam face Hong Kong and Uzbekistan take on Jordan at theTransportation Institute Stadium.-VNA
