Ho Chi Minh City’s Department of Transport on February 5 held a ceremony to kick off construction of a steel overpass at the congested Lang Cha Ca intersection in Tan Binh district.
The overpass, the third of its kind in the city, will be 244 meters long and 6.5 meters wide. It is designed to accommodate motorcycles, buses, under- 9-seat vehicles, and under-16-tonne trucks.
Costing an estimated 122 billion VND (5.8 million USD) sourced from the city’s budget, the two-lane flyover is expected to be completed in mid-June this year.
Speaking at the ground-breaking ceremony, Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Huu Tin said two more flyovers will be built at Cay Go roundabout in District 11 and Nguyen Tri Phuong-Ba Thang Hai crossroads in District 10 to help ease traffic congestions.
In late January, HCM City inaugurated the first two steel overpasses at Hoang Xanh and Thu Duc intersections in Binh Thanh and Thu Duc districts.-VNA
