An international workshop on cooperation to develop tourism between the central provinces of Thua Thien – Hue , Quang Tri and Quang Binh with Laos and Thailand took place in the central city of Hue on November 30.

Thua Thien – Hue , Quang Tri and Quang Binh boast diversified togeography and ecology as well as potentials of culture and heritage.Local tourist attractions such as the ancient capital of Hue (ThuaThien-Hue province), Phong Nha-Ke Bang Cavern (Quang Binh), and otherholiday destinations are popular with tourists. The region also hasadvantages in its transport routes, especially the East-West economiccorridor, which connects Laos and Thailand towards the East Seafor developing tourism.

At the workshop, theCulture - Tourism industry in localities as well as tourism firmsexpressed concerns about cooperation to in the field and the strengthsof each locality for joint development, with a special focus ondeveloping the East-West economic corridor.

Representatives from the tourism industries of Vietnam, Laos andThailand put forward a plan for closer cooperation in exploitingtourism’s strength and potential of the East-West economic corridor;

A series of memoranda of understanding on jointcoordination programme and the improvement of the quality of tourismservices as well as a strategy for sharing the tourist market,distributing and marketing tourism products and other services weresigned on this occasion./.

Hanoi - favourite travel destination for New Zealanders

House of Travel, the largest travel company in New Zealand, said it has seen a significant 130% year-on-year increase in holiday bookings to Hanoi by New Zealanders, alongside a 32% rise for Bali and 11% for Tokyo.

Vietnam tourism promoted at Canadian travel, vacation show

Do Ha Thao, Secretary in charge of cultural affairs at the embassy, said that visitors show great interest in the Vietnamese booth, asking for information about tours and promotional programmes. Some of the visitors had previously been to Vietnam and wish to return.

Binh Thuan province remains tourist magnet

In the first three months, the province welcomed 2.6 million visitors, including 152,000 foreigners, up nearly 14% and 17% year-on-year, respectively. Tourism revenue surpassed 7 trillion VND, marking a year-on-year rise of 16%.
