YKVN wins national law firm 2010 award

YKVN has become the only Vietnamese company to win the title “National Law Firm 2010” offered by the International Finance Law Review (IFLR), a leading benchmark publication in Asia.
YKVN has become the only Vietnamesecompany to win the title “National Law Firm 2010” offered by theInternational Finance Law Review (IFLR), a leading benchmark publicationin Asia.

Along with other 13 law firms in Asian, YKVN has been recognized asthe company with the best track record for the preceding year in givinglocal advice on the most innovative international finance deals from thecountry.

Earlier, YKVN picked up that distinction in 2004, 2005 and 2009.

Awards handed out by IFLR are reputable ones that recognizeoutstanding performance of law firms in important deals in the region.

Since its operation in 1999, YKVN, has worked on many landmarkinnovative transactions in Vietnam. It gave advice to Barclays,Citigroup and Deutsche and Credit Suisse in issuing and listinginternational bonds and to Vietnam Airlines in purchasing six ATRplanes./.

Xuyen Viet Oil case: Appellate verdict announced, with six receiving reduced sentences

Specifically, the trial panel sentenced the mastermind of the case, Mai Thi Hong Hanh, ex-Director and Chairwoman of the Board of Members of Xuyen Viet Oil, to 11 years in prison for the crime of “giving bribes” and 17 years for “violating regulations on the management and use of State assets, causing loss and wastefulness.” The combined sentence is 28 years in prison, 2 years less than the first-instance verdict.

Khanh Hoa tightens control of fishing vessels at sea ports

As many as 99.7% of Khanh Hoa's fishing vessels over 15 metres in length – 631 out of 633 – have now been equipped with VMS devices. Furthermore, the electronic catch documentation and traceability (eCDT) system is being effectively implemented across the Hon Ro, Vinh Luong, Da Bac, and Dai Lanh ports, significantly enhancing transparency and traceability in the seafood supply chain.
