Hanoi (VNA) – Young singers Hoang Thuy Linh and Son Tung M-TP are leading figures with the most nominations for the 15th Devotion Music Awards.

The awards are held annually to honour Vietnamese producers and artists. There are nine categories: producer of the year, song of the year, best music video, best album, best show, best musician, best singer, best music show, and best new artist.

"There are many young artists nominated this year," said Le Xuan Thanh, head of the organising board. "Hoang Thuy Linh and Son Tung M-TP stand out with the most nominations, each receiving four."

Both of them have been nominated for the best music video, song of the year and best singer.

Linh's album “Hoang” has earned her a nomination for the best album, thanks to songs inspired by Vietnamese literary works and idioms.

Launched last October, "Hoang" is a unified concept album about a young woman who experiences many ups and downs in her life. The album received positive reviews in national music publications, on Facebook and on blogs.

It combines electropop and electronic dance music, according to Billboard Vietnam. The product highlights folklore materials such as fairy tales, proverbs, literary works, and religions. It is still modern, joyful and profound.

Linh also received nominations for the best song and the best music video of the year for "De Mi Noi Cho Ma Nghe" (Let Me Tell), which created a hit after its debut last year.

The pop song was composed by DTAP Team about a young girl who loves freedom and doesn't want to get married at young age.

The lyrics are vivid and funny, inspiring listeners to sing along. The music video for the song was launched last June, using Vietnamese classical literature works such as Lao Hac (Elderly Man Hac), Tat Den (Light Turned Off) and Vo Chong A Phu (A Phu Couple).

Tung is a strong contender for the best show for Sky Tour, which took him from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City.

He was also nominated for the best music video for his latest single “Hay Trao Cho Anh” (Give It to Me) which reached a new record in Vietnam after attracting 1 million views on Youtube, eight minutes after its release on July 1.

It was listed as the top trending YouTube MV in Asia, seventh in the US, and 14th worldwide the same day.

The MV is a production between the singer who composed the Latin and hip-hop song and producer Onionn who worked on mixing.

In the MV, Tung performs with American rapper Snoop Dogg and supermodel Madison Beer.

The scenes were shot in Los Angeles by Korean producer August Grogs who has worked with music stars such as Tae Yeon of the Republic of Korea and Jay Park of the US.

Tung won the best singer in 2016 award and was nominated for the best music video in 2018 and 2019.

For the first time, Tran Manh Hung will be hosting the awards. He is also nominated for the best producer, and will be up against DTAP who are appearing for the first time this year.

Amee is a young artist to emerge last year with a string of hits. Her writer composer LyLy has also been nominated in the same category.

The board announced the official nominations in The Thao Van Hoa (Sport & Culture) newspaper last month.

The awards ceremony is scheduled for March 22 in Ho Chi Minh City./.
