Young people to launch blood donation day

The central committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (HCMCYU) will launch a festive day for blood donation among young people in Hanoi on Jan. 9 to start the Year of Youth 2011.
The central committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (HCMCYU) will launch a festive day for blood donation among young people in Hanoi on Jan. 9 to start the Year of Youth 2011.

The event is part of the union’s programme on blood donation day that will be launched throughout the country during January.

At a press briefing in Hanoi on Jan. 6, the organising board said the day will transmit a message of sharing blood for community’s health to encourage young people as well as the city’s dwellers to donate blood to save people’s lives.

The day in Hanoi , jointly held by the HCMCYU’s Central Committee, HCMCYU’s Hanoi chapter and Tien Phong (Vanguard) newspaper, is expected to attract 27,000 blood donors who will donate about 2,000 units of blood.

The activity will also be held in 12 other provinces and cities on the same day./.
