Indonesia's General Election Commission confirmed on July 23 that incumbent President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono won the July 8 presidential election in a landslide.

The final official results showed Yudhoyono collected nearly 74 million votes, equivalent to 60.8 percent, far ahead of ex-president Megawati Sukarnoputri, with 26.8 percent, and Vice President Jusuf Kalla, with 12.4 percent.

With this result, which will be formally announced by the commission on July 25, Yudhoyono was re-elected President of Indonesia for a second five-year term in one round of voting.

According to Indonesian law, after the announcement of the result, the Constitutional Court will have 14 days to deal with any possible complaints, before officially declaring the country’s president for the 2009-2014 term.

Megawati and her running-mate, Prabowo Subianto, had previously said they will not accept the election result and will file a protest with the court, believing that the list of voters was fraudulent.

Kalla’s supports also intend to lodge a complaint with the Constitutional Court for the same reason./.
