NA Chairman holds talks with Lao counterpart

Chairman of the Lao National Assembly Saysomphone Phomvihane and a high ranking delegation of the Lao legislature arrived in Hanoi on December 6, starting a three-day official visit to Vietnam at the invitation of Vietnamese NA Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue.

Chairman Hue emphasized that this visit is an important milestone, contributing to further consolidating the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties, States and peoples in general, and between the two National Assemblies in particular.

For his part, Chairman Xaysomphone Phomvihane thanked the Party, National Assembly, Government, local authorities and people of Vietnam for their timely support and assistance with funding and vaccines as well as medical equipment to support Laos in the fight against the COVID-19 epidemic.

During the talks, the two legislative leaders agreed that political-diplomatic relations between the two countries on all channels are constantly tightened, including the comprehensive cooperation between the two parliaments in recent years.

The two legislative bodies have effectively implemented their cooperation agreement, based on which they will consider signing a new cooperation agreement with specific amendments and supplements to make it more effective and substantive.
