Kuala Lumpur (VNA) – ASEAN foreign ministers gathered in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on November 20 for the 13th ASEAN Political –Security Community Council (APSC) Meeting.

Speaking at a related press conference, Malaysian Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Anifah Aman, who chaired the meeting, said the Ministers reaffirmed the importance of maintaining peace, security and stability as well as navigation freedom in the East Sea.

The Ministers continued to express deep concerns, and urged all parties to restrain themselves and strengthen the implementation of the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (DOC) while urgently working to realise a Code of Conduct in the East Sea (COC).

The Malaysian FM also called for resolve and caution in the fight against global terrorism and agreed to cooperate closely in order to tackle the issue. 

According to him, efforts to implement the APSC’s detailed plan have seen significant progress and are nearly completed.

APSC is one of the ASEAN Community’s three pillars – economy, political- security and socio-culture. The community should be established by the end of the year.-VNA
