189 new COVID-19 infections raise national count to 17,052

An additional 189 domestically-infected COVID-19 cases were recorded in the last 12 hours to 6am on July 1, raising the national tally to 17,052, according to the Ministry of Health (MoH).

Hanoi (VNA) - An additional 189 domestically-infected COVID-19 caseswere recorded in the last 12 hours to 6am on July 1, raising the national tallyto 17,052, according to the Ministry of Health (MoH).

Among the new cases, 158 were found in Ho ChiMinh City, 16 in Tien Giang, eight in Phu Yen, six in Hung Yen, and one in VinhLong. Of them, 188 were detected in quarantine sites and sealed off areas.

By 6am on July 1, Vietnam had documented 15,254domestic infections and 1,798 imported cases, the MoH said.

Among the active patients undergoing treatment,278 have tested negative for the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 once, 14 twice and 81 thrice.The death toll related to the disease was 81.

On June 30, an additional 179,188people received COVID-19 vaccine shots nationwide. So far, over 3.7 million vaccinedoses have been injected. The number of people fully getting two shots is 193,041.

Fourteen provinces and cities that were previously hit bythe pandemic have gone through 14 consecutive days without new infections.

On June 30, the Prime Ministerissued a decision on approving additional over 7.6 trillion VND (over 329.2million USD) for purchasing 61 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines produced byAstraZeneca and Pfizer in accordance with the proposal of the ministries ofHealth and Finance./.
