43rd National Day of Oman marked in Hanoi

The Oman Embassy in Vietnam held a ceremony in Hanoi on November 19 to celebrate the 43 rd National Day of Oman (November 18).

Speaking at the event, Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Phuong Nga spoke highly of the achievements Oman people have recorded over the past four decades under the leadership of King Qaboos bin Said al Said.

Sharing wishes for peace, development and prosperity with Oman people, Vietnamese people highly value their endeavours and resolve to push the country ahead, she said.

Vietnam believes that based on successes in its economic diversification strategy, Oman will reap more fruits in the coming time, she said.

The Deputy FM highlighted the remarkable developments in the relationship between the two countries over the past two decades with regular exchanges of delegations.

She added that mechanisms for inter-ministerial and inter-governmental cooperation have been completed and the two countries inked tens of cooperative agreements in various areas, helping improve the efficiency of bilateral cooperation in trade, investment and employment.

The diplomat voiced her hope that with existing potential and high resolve shared by the two countries, their multifaceted cooperation will record more positive results in 2014, meeting the aspirations and interests of the two peoples.

Oman Ambassador to Vietnam Sheikh Sultan Sai Hilal Al-Mahruqi affirmed Oman’s stance of living peacefully with other countries, not intervening in other countries’ national sovereign rights, and abiding by international conventions and principles of the United Nations.

The ambassador expressed his hope that the each side’s private businesses will actively extract investment opportunities to contribute to promoting bilateral cooperation between the two countries.-VNA
