At the ceremony (Photo: VNA) Dong Thap (VNA) – The Mekong Delta province of Dong Thap held a ceremony on December 20 to present posthumously the noble State title of “Heroic Vietnamese Mother” to 84 local women whose husband and children laid down their lives in the struggle for national liberation and protection.
With the recognition, the province currently has a total of 1,868 heroic mothers.
Addressing the ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Dong Thap People’s Committee Doan Tan Buu stressed that the province over the years has focused on taking care of people who rendered services to the nation, including the heroic mothers. The work also helps foster patriotism among local people, especially youths.
According to the Ministry of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs, more than nine million people have to date been recognised as revolutionary contributors, including 1.2 million war martyrs, 127,000 heroic mothers and 800,000 war invalids.-VNA
