Doctor is taking care of patient (Photo VNA)Hanoi (VNA) – General Secretary ofthe Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Nguyen Phu Trong has signed a CPV CentralCommittee resolution on public health (Resolution 20) which sets a goal for 95percent of the population to be covered by health insurance by 2025.
At least 95 percent of children are expected tobe vaccinated under the national expanded immunisation programme. The mortalityrate among under-five-year-old children is hoped to drop by 18.5 per 1,000 andfor under one-year-olds 12.5 per 1,000.
The proportion of underweight children underfive years old is set to be kept below 20 percent, with the obesity rate amongadults under 12 percent.
More than 90 percent of the population areexpected to receive health management and 95 percent of medical stations atcommunes, wards and towns will implement prevention, management and treatmentof some non-communicable diseases.
The country expects to have 30 hospital beds, 10doctors, and 25 nurses per 10,000 people by 2025.
By 2030, it aims to basically put an end toAIDS, tuberculosis and malaria. More than 90 percent of the population areexpected to be satisfied with medical services.
The CPV Central Committee also promulgated a resolutionon reforming the management, improving quality and operational efficiency ofpublic service institutions, and a resolution on reshuffling and streamliningthe political system at its sixth plenary session, which took place in Hanoi fromOctober 4-11.-VNA
