Hanoi, (VNA) - The following is a brief review of the day’s events as reported by the Vietnam News Agency.

– Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has signed to issue an official dispatch directing ministries, sectors, and localities to effectively implement the Land Law, Housing Law, and Real Estate Business Law, all of which came into force simultaneously on August 1.

To ensure that these new laws are well applied in practice, driving socio-economic development and fostering a favourable business climate for enterprises and citizens, the PM has outlined several immediate tasks in the official dispatch.Read full story

- The National Assembly (NA) Standing Committee debated the draft Law on Value Added Tax (revised) at its thematic session on law building on August 14.

According to Chairman of the NA's Committee for Finance - Budget Le Quang Manh, the bill has four chapters and 18 articles, with many new contents.Read full story

- General Tan Sri Datuk Seri Mohammad bin Ab Rahman, Chief of Malaysia’s Defence Force is paying an official visit to Vietnam from August 13-16, at an invitation of Sen. Lt. Gen. Nguyen Tan Cuong, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army (VPA) and Deputy Minister of National Defence.

After an official welcome ceremony for the Malaysian defence force chief in Hanoi on August 14, the two officers held talks, during which Cuong affirmed that the visit will create new momentum for cooperation between the two armies, and contribute actively to the two countries’ relations, for peace, cooperation, development and prosperity in the region and the world.Read full story

– Thai Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn and a Thai royal delegation visited Nam Cuong Primary School in Lao Cai city of the province of the same name on August 14 as part of her ongoing working visit to Vietnam at the invitation of Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan.

Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn's visit aims to expand a project on improving the quality of life of children and youth in the Asia-Pacific region in Vietnam, contributing to the development of friendly relations and cooperation between the two countries. - Following positive results in import-export activities so far this year, the increasing demand in the last months of the year is predicted to fuel exports, according to experts.

In January - July, many key agricultural products enjoyed a good harvest and good prices. Most of the products in this group achieved double-digit export growth compared to the same period last year, including coffee with a growth rate of 30.9%, rice 25.1%, tea 34.8%, vegetables and fruits 24.3%, cashew nuts 22.1%, peppercorn 46.3%, and cassava and cassava products 12.5%.Read full story

– Nearly 500 dance artists from nine countries will participate in the International Dance Festival 2024 to be held in the central province of Thua Thien-Hue from August 17-22, the Performing Arts Department under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced on August 13.

The festival will bring together artists from 17 art troupes in Cambodia, China, India, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, the Philippines, the United Arab Emirates and Vietnam.Read full story/.

Historic relic sites in Hong Kong inspire national pride among overseas Vietnamese

In addition to Tai Kwun, Hong Kong is home to several other historic landmarks linked to President Ho Chi Minh’s revolutionary activities in the early 20th century, including Sung Wong Toi Park, where a stone from Sung Wong Toi Hill marks the site where he convened the conference leading to the establishment of the CPV. House No. 186 Tam Kung also served as one of his secret residences before his arrest.

Vietnam always treasures bilateral relations with Croatia: FM

Welcoming the first-ever visit to Vietnam by a Croatian foreign minister since the establishment of diplomatic ties in 1994, Trung described the trip as a strong signal of Croatia’s commitment to expanding multifaceted cooperation with Vietnam. He affirmed that Vietnam always treasures relations with traditional friends, with Croatia regarded as one of its priority partners in the Balkan region.

NA Vice Chairman Nguyen Doan Anh awarded first-class Labour Order

Vietnam, Croatia seek stronger law enforcement cooperation

In recent years, the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security (MoPS) and Croatian partners have carried out various practical cooperation activities, including the signing of a cooperation agreement on fire prevention, firefighting, search and rescue as well as coordination in verifying criminal information at the request of the Croatian INTERPOL Office.

Indian Defence Minister pays official visit to Vietnam

Following the ceremony, the two sides held talks during which the Vietnamese minister emphasised the significance of the visit as the two countries celebrate the 10th anniversary of their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and recently upgraded ties to an Enhanced Comprehensive Strategic Partnership under the spirit of “Shared Vision, Strategic Convergence and Substantive Cooperation,” during the state visit to India by Party General Secretary and State President To Lam from May 5-8.

Vietnam supports first Model ASEAN Meeting in New Zealand
