- Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh hosted separate receptions in New Delhi on August 1 afternoon (local time) for Jagat Prakash Nadda, President of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and Mallikarjun Kharge, President of the Indian National Congress (INC), within the framework of his state visit to India.

Receiving Jagat Prakash Nadda, Chinh expressed gratitude for the valuable support and assistance by the BJP and the people of India to the Communist Party and the people of Vietnam during the struggle for independence in the past and in the current nation building and development cause. - Indian scholars lauded the outcomes of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh’s visit to India from July 30 – August 1 while talking with Vietnam News Agency correspondents based in New Delhi.

Prof. Prabir De from the ASEAN-India Centre at the Research and Information System for Developing Countries (RIS) hailed the visit as highly effective and ground-breaking. Read full story

- The 14th Vietnam-India defence policy dialogue was held in New Delhi on August 1, during which the two sides committed to enhancing cooperation in various areas.

Co-chaired by Deputy Minister of National Defence Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien and Indian Defence Secretary Shri Giridhar Aramane, the dialogue offers an opportunity for the two sides to discuss cooperation contents in the time ahead, contributing to fostering the bilateral defence collaboration - an important, strategic pillar of the Vietnam-India comprehensive strategic partnership, for the sake of the two countries’ people, and for peace and stability in the region and the world. - The US will back Da Nang in combating transnational crime, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs at the US Department of State Shelby Smith-Wilson said at a meeting with officials of the city on August 1.

During the meeting, Tran Chi Cuong, Vice Chairman of municipal People's Committee informed the US delegation that the city aims to become a growth hub in Vietnam’s central key economic region. Over trecent years, the city has experienced robust development, focusing on advancing its information technology industry as a major economic driver. Read full story

- The Animal and Plant Quarantine Agency (APQA) of the Republic of Korea (RoK) has officially announced regulations for importing fresh pomelos from Vietnam on its website, according to the Plant Protection Department (PPD) under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD).

Thus, pomelo is the third fresh fruit from Vietnam permitted for export to the RoK, along with dragon fruit and mango, marking a significant milestone and opening up great opportunities for Vietnamese agricultural products to access international markets. Read full story

- Vietravel Airlines has run its inaugural flight connecting Phu Quoc (Vietnam) with Taipei (Taiwan, China), marking a significant step in expanding its international network to major source markets this year.

Flight VU1183, carrying 210 passengers traveling for tourism and family visits, departed from the Taoyuan International Airport in Taipei and landed at the Phu Quoc International Airport on Phu Quoc island, off the coast of the Mekong Delta province of Kien Giang, on the evening of August 1. - Saigontourist Travel Service Company (Saigontourist) held a ceremony to announce the Travelife Partner title and offer support for the combat of illegal trade of wild animals in Vietnam.

- Vietnam’s capital city of Hanoi has ranked among the top 15 culinary destinations in the world as voted by readers of the world's largest travel guidance platform TripAdvisor.

Tripadvisor introduced Hanoi’s cuisine as "refined and delicate”, saying that Hanoi dishes are renowned for their natural flavors, clear broths, fresh herbs, and simple seasoning. Read full story

- The first World Student Festival Ho Chi Minh City 2024 and the eighth International Student Science Forum officially kicked off in Ho Chi Minh City on August 2.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Vice Chairwoman of the municipal People’s Committee Tran Thi Dieu Thuy highlighted the crucial role of youth in all countries, particularly their pioneering role in creating roads towards sustainable development goals for communities. Read full story

- Two Vietnamese students won bronze medals at the Microsoft Office Specialist World Championship (MOSWC) and the Adobe Certified Professional World Championship (ACPWC) 2024 in California, the US.

The information was announced on August 2 by the Centre for Vietnam Youth Talents, Science and Technology (CYTAST) under the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (HCMCYU) Central Committee, which co-organised the national qualifiers of the competition. Read full story

- A grant of over 6 billion VND (238,000 USD) for a Siki gibbon (Nomascus siki ) conservation project in the biodiversity-rich Truong Son mountain range, Quang Ninh district, Quang Binh province, has been approved by the provincial People’s Committee.

The project will encompass key components, including training, transferring scientific and technical advancements, and enhancing capacity and effectiveness of management for officials and agencies. Vietnam, Algeria strengthen agricultural trade connectivity
