- The Office of the Party Central Committee has announced the conclusions of General Secretary To Lam following his working session with the committee’s Commission for Policies and Strategies.
During the session on February 24, Lam outlined ambitious economic growth targets of at least 8% for 2025, laying the groundwork for double-digit rates in the coming years. He also provided orientations for digital asset and currency management in Vietnam. Read full story
- Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee Nguyen Van Duoc met with New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon on February 28, during which the former highlighted numerous potential areas for cooperation between the southern largest economic hub and the Oceanian country.
Duoc emphasised the city’s position as the country’s most dynamic locality with substantial investment and development opportunities across various domains, noting the Government issued a resolution on the establishment of an international financial centre in the city, with preparations for infrastructure development underway and calls for external investment resources. - The State President’s order on the promulgation of three laws, recently passed by the 15th National Assembly (NA) during its 9th extraordinary session, was announced at a press conference in Hanoi on February 28 morning.
They are the law amending and supplementing several articles of the Law on the Organisation of the NA, the Law on Organisation of the Government, and the Law on Organisation of Local Governments. Read full story
- As a responsible member of both United Nations (UN) and International Organisation of La Francophonie (OIF), Vietnam is committed to promoting the realisation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and fulfilling climate commitments, Permanent Representative of Vietnam to the UN Ambassador Dang Hoang Giang has said.
Speaking at a dialogue at the UN headquarters in New York on February 27 with Secretary-General António Guterres on the contributions of the Francophonie bloc to the implementation of the UN agenda and his 2025 priorities, Giang affirmed Vietnam’s appreciation of Guterres’s leadership in advancing global agendas and diplomatic and mediation efforts for peace and conflict settlement worldwide. - Vietnamese Ambassador to South Africa and Botswana Hoang Sy Cuong has presented State President Luong Cuong's credentials to Botswanan President Duma Gideon Boko at the Presidential Palace in Gaborone.
President Boko praised Vietnam’s socio-economic achievements, particularly its success in attracting foreign direct investment and enhancing its international role and position. He also expressed his admiration for Vietnam’s past struggle for national liberation and reunification, and recalled his good impressions when he visited Vietnam and attended the 132nd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU-132) in Hanoi in 2015. - The Government on February 27 promulgated Resolution No. 37/NQ-CP on the plan on implementing the National Marine Spatial Planning in the 2021-2030 period with a vision to 2050.
The plan aims to specify policies, key targets and tasks, and define breakthrough points, orientations, solutions and national projects set out in the National Assembly’s Resolution No. 139/2024/QH15 issued on 28 June 2024. It seeks to ensure the effective execution of the National Marine Spatial Planning through 2030, with long-term goals extending to 2050. Read full story
- The Ministry of Public Security and the Commission for the Management of State Capital at Enterprises (CMSC) held a ceremony on February 28 to officially transfer MobiFone Telecommunications Corporation from the commission to the ministry.
According to CMSC Chairman Nguyen Hoang Anh, the commission assumed responsibility for representing state capital ownership at MobiFone from the Ministry of Information and Communications in November 2018. Read full story
- The Ministry of Finance (MoF) and the State Securities Commission (SSC) will create favourable conditions for the stock market to develop more breakthrough and innovative products, enhancing the quality of market offerings and attracting more investors, according to Deputy Minister of Finance Nguyen Duc Chi.
At a working session on February 27 with British analytics and data solution provider FTSE Russell, BlackRock - a world’s leading provider of investment, advisory and risk management solutions – and SSI Securities Corporation, Chi said that one of the key pillars will be perfecting the legal framework to develop the securities and capital markets. This should begin with amending documents guiding the implementation of the revised 2024 Securities Law and carrying out synchronous solutions outlined in the Securities Market Development Strategy by 2030./.
