Hanoi (VNA) – The following is a brief review of the day’s events as reported by the Vietnam News Agency.

– Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his Singaporean counterpart Lawrence Wong held talks in Hanoi on March 26, agreeing on decisive and timely measures for enhancing political trust and creating new breakthroughs for the two countries' comprehensive strategic partnership.

The Vietnamese Government leader highlighted the significance of his guest's official visit, saying that this is the first high-level trip since the two countries upgraded their relationship to a comprehensive strategic partnership during Vietnamese Party General Secretary To Lam’s official visit to Singapore. – Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his Singaporean counterpart Lawrence Wong attended the groundbreaking ceremony of the Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Park in the northern province of Thai Binh (VSIP Thai Binh) on March 26.

The 333ha VSIP Thai Binh, costing nearly 221 million USD, is located in Thuy Truong commune, Thai Thuy district. The first phase, led by the VSIP Urban and Industrial Park Development JSC, involves reclaiming 278 ha for construction. Read full story

– Minister-President of Germany’s State of Hessen Boris Rhein affirmed the locality’s readiness to support Vietnam in developing international finance centres and share its experience in financial market management, while meeting with Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh.

Binh, who is on a working visit to the European nation, stated that Vietnam always attaches importance to deepening its strategic partnership with Germany, and with the State of Hessen in particular. Read full story

– Vietnam and China have discussed measures to bolster transport collaboration, particularly in railway development, at a recent meeting between Minister of Construction Tran Hong Minh and Chinese Minister of Transport Liu Wei as part of the former’s working trip to China.

At the event, Minh underscored the Vietnamese Party and Government’s political determination to bring into full play the common perceptions on cross-border railway connectivity and cooperation between the two countries. Read full story

– Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has assigned various tasks to ministries, agencies and localities to accelerate the rapid and sustainable growth of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), toward adding at least one million new enterprises by 2030.

Released on March 25, the directive underscored the pivotal role of the private sector, particularly SMEs, which constitute 98% of all active businesses in the country. They are the backbone of Vietnam's economy, contributing over 50% of the GDP, generating 30% of total state budget revenue, and providing more than 40 million jobs, a colossal 82% of the nation's workforce. – The sixth Vietnam International Shrimp Industry Technology Expo (VietShrimp 2025) opened in the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho on March 26, bringing together industry leaders, experts, and policymakers to advance sustainable shrimp farming.

Co-organised by the Directorate of Fisheries, the Vietnam Fisheries Society (VINAFIS), and the Vietnam Fisheries Magazine, the three-day event features over 200 booths from nearly 150 domestic and international enterprises. Read full story

– The national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines and private carrier Vietjet Air have officially banned passengers from using lithium-based power banks during their flights.

The ban was issued after an incident on March 21, when a Hong Kong Airlines flight from Hangzhou (China) was forced to make an emergency landing when a power bank in a passenger's personal bag suddenly exploded and caught on fire. Read full story

– As the host of the national tourism programme Visit Vietnam Year 2025, the central city of Hue got the show on the road with a grand ceremony on March 25 evening.

In his speech, Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh highlighted a series of cultural, sports, and tourism activities scheduled to follow the curtain raiser. He noted that Hue has been selected as the host twice during the programme’s 22 editions, reflecting its significance on both the local and global tourism map, as well as the central government’s attention to the city’s socio-economic development.
