- Party General Secretary To Lam has emphasised that streamlining the political system must begin with specific, detailed, and practical steps.

Speaking at a National Assembly discussion on October 31, the Party leader stated that this initiative requires a mindset shift. Being termed "a revolution," the process demands concerted efforts of the entire political system, from central to grassroots levels, involving every party cell and party member. Read full story

- Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on November 25 ordered relevant ministries and localities to intensify state management over e-commerce.

In an official dispatch, the leader said that in Vietnam, e-commerce is expanding rapidly and has become a popular business method recognised by both enterprises and the public. - Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly (NA) Nguyen Thi Thanh on November 26 received a working delegation from China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region led by Zhang Zhu, Deputy Secretary of the region’s Party Committee and Secretary of Urumqi city’s Party Committee.

Affirming Vietnam consistently follows a foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralism and diversification, and a defence policy of "four no's", Thanh highlighted that the country views consolidating and developing its friendly neighbourliness and comprehensive cooperation with China as a consistent guideline, an objective requirement, a strategic choice, and a top priority in its overall foreign policy. - Defence ministers of Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia convened their annual meeting in Phnom Penh on November 25 to reinforce trilateral cooperation in the field.

Vietnamese Minister of National Defence General Phan Van Giang noted that the ties are essential for maintaining peace, stability, and development in each nation. - The number of cases handled by People’s Courts at all levels so far this year has risen 7.73% over the same period in 2023, while the number of cases solved has increased 8.4%, reported Chief Justice of the Supreme People’s Court Le Minh Tri at the National Assembly (NA)’s eighth session on November 26.

Tri said that rate of court decisions being overturned or amended due to judicial errors was 0.77%, a decrease of 0.12% compared to the previous year, meeting the NA’s expectations. Read full story

- Vietnamese authors Nguyen Binh Phuong and Nguyen Mot have been honoured with the prestigious Southeast Asian Writers Award (S.E.A. Write Award) for 2022-2023 in recognition of their outstanding literary contributions.

Phuong, born in 1965 in the northern province of Thai Nguyen, received the 2022 award for his novel “Mot vi du xoang” (An ordinary example), which previously won the Vietnam Writers' Association (VWA) Award in 2021. Currently serving as the editor-in-chief of Van nghe Quan doi (Military Literature and Arts Magazine) and Van Nghe newspaper (Literature and Arts), the writer authored six novels and five poetry collections, with works translated into English, French, and Korean. - Vietnam exported 18,415 tonnes of pepper in October, valued at 120.6 million USD, the General Department of Customs has reported.
