- Since officiallybecoming the 149th member of the United Nations (UN) on September 20, 1977,Vietnam has always been a trustworthy partner and an active member of theorganisation, with numerous important contributions to the implementations ofits missions, Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son has stated.

In his article entitled “45 years of Vietnam-UN relationship:reliable partnership for peace, cooperation and development", Sonunderlined that cooperation with the UN is always an important part of theParty and State’s foreign policies, showing the determination and aspirationof  the Vietnamese people to join hands with the world community forpeace, national independence, democracy, cooperation and development. Read full story

- A delegationof the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) led by Bui Thi Minh Hoai, Secretary ofthe Party Central Committee and Chairwoman of its Commission for MassMobilisation, paid a working visit to Poland from September 17-20.

During their stay, the delegation paid a courtesy visit toDeputy Marshal of the Sejm (lower house) Ryszard Terlecki; held talks with ViceChairman of the Democratic Left Alliance Andrzej Szejna; met withrepresentatives of the Poland-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentarians’ Group, andvisited the Vietnamese Embassy. Read full story

- First Vice Chairmanof the Russian State Duma and Vice Chairman of the Communist Party of theRussian Federation (CPRF) Ivan Melnikov has expressed his delight at the stabledevelopment of the Russia-Vietnam relations, and pledged to continue to workfor stronger partnership between the two parliaments as well as between theCPRF and the Communist Party of Vietnam.

- High-techforeign investments will continue to propel Vietnam’s economic growth for yearsto come, Michael Kokalari, chief economist at investment fund VinaCapital, hassaid.

Vietnam’s economic growth has been accelerating this year,and so the World Bank (WB), International Monetary Fund (IMF) and others havesharply revised up their GDP growth forecasts for the country, with anincreasing number of economists now expecting it to exceed 8% this year. Vietnam, Russia issue joint statement on further strengthening ties in new period

In the statement, Vietnam and Russia clarified concrete measures to bolster their cooperation in specific fields, including political and diplomatic affairs, defence and security, economy and trade, fuel and energy, transport, industry and agriculture, science – technology, education – training, health care, and people-to-people exchanges.

Top leader suggests turning sci-tech cooperation into new pillar of Vietnam–Russia ties

The top leader expressed his belief that building on the traditional friendship, high political trust, Russia’s scientific and technological capabilities, and Vietnam’s strong determination to innovate and develop, cooperation in science, technology and innovation can fully become a new driving force, a new pillar and a new symbol of bilateral relations in the 21st century.

NA President meets Vietnamese community members in Mongolia
