Hanoi (VNA) – The Vietnam Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Agribank) has decided to spend 40 billion VND (1.72 million USD) on its annual programme supporting the poor people on the occasion of the traditional Lunar New Year (Tet) holidays.

The fund will be allocated to social welfare activities nationwide, in response to the campaign providing aid to the poor, ensuring that no one is left without Tet.

Agribank also joined a programme of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour designed to help poor workers return to their hometowns free of charge for the Tet festival, the occasion during which family reunion is a very important factor for most of the Vietnamese.

Accordingly, the bank granted 4,000 coach tickets to support needy workers in industrial parks in Ho Chi Minh City and the southern province of Binh Duong.

For the last two years, Agribank has stayed in the list of the 20 largest contributors to the State budget.–VNA
